We have been working with the community at Mandanjala for 18 months, steadily helping the learning environment for pupils and teachers.
One of the key challenges for the pupils has been the lack of Science tuition. For the last few years the school has not had dedicated Chemistry, Physics and Maths Teachers. The school also has had insufficient quantities of lab equipment and chemicals to be able to teach pupils.
As a result of our progress at the School the local Government recently decided to permanently allocate 2 New science and maths teachers to Mandanjala. This followed meetings that Oscar held with Government Officials and their appreciation of our work being done at Madanjala.
Following the arrival of the new teachers earlier this term, we recently procured and delivered a large consignment of lab equipment including chemicals, glass ware and measuring equipment e.g. meters.
Oscar reported that the Head of the Department of Sciences at Madanjala appreciated the gesture shown by Malawi Schools Trust in alleviating one of the major challenges the school has been experiencing. And, the headteacher of the school Mr O.N Chilunjika thanked MST for their unwavering support. He pointed out that the materials were delivered in time for the Malawi School Certificate Examinations.
At a presentation to the school Oscar stressed MSTcommitment to see the school’s performance in national examinations improve.
Our next plans for the school over the summer recess include a Summer Camp for pupils run by Oscar to help sustain the Pupils enthusiasm for learning.
